99 Millard Fillmore, of the State of New York received Eight votes for Vice President of the United States of America. We hereby certify that the above is a true List of the Person voted for by the Electors of President & Vice President of the United States, in & for the State of Maryland, & of the number of votes by him received. Witness our Hands & Seals this sixth day of December Eighteen Hundred & forty eight. To the three certificates, prepared by the Secretary, agreeably to the aforegoing Term, the Secretary attached, severally one of the certificates furnished by the Executive Authority of this State, in obedience to the Act of Congress 1792 chap. 109. The said Certificates were then sign & sealed by the Electors, as were also the Lists agreeably to the aforegoing Form. They were then folded & sealed & addressed to the President of the Senate of the United States, Washington" with the following memorandum on each certificate to each of which each Elector attached his name " Certificate of the Election of President & Vice President of the United States of American in & for the State of Maryland December 6th. 1848." Where upon, the President delivered one of the certificates & Lists, prepared, signed sealed addressed & endorsed as aforesaid, to Benjamin Chambers Wickes (one of the Electors) to be by him deposited in the Post Office in the City of Annapolis; also one other of the said Certificates thereto to James Morrison Harris (another of the Electors) to be conveyed & delivered by him to the Judge of the District Court of the United States for the District of Maryland; & the other (the third) of the said certificates of Lists to the President, by order of the Electors, delivered |
