77. Proceedings of the Electors of President and Vice President of the United States of America, in and for The State of Maryland. December, 1848. State of Maryland, towit: On the First Wednesday in December, the second day of the said Month in the year one Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty being the day appointed by the Constitution and Laws of the United States on which the Electors of President and Vice President of the United States of America are directed to assemble and perform the trust reposed in them there appeared in the Senate Chamber in the City of Annapolis, the place designated by Act of Assembly for the meeting of the said Electors the following Gentlemen, who had been proclaimed by the Executive Authority of this State to have been duly elected Electors of President and Vice President of the United States, in and for the State of Maryland, towit: Mr. David Hoffman, of Baltimore City, Mr. John Leeds Kerr of Talbot County, Mr. Thodore R. Loockerman, of Talbot County, Mr. Jacob A. Preston, of Harford County, Mr. George Howard, of Anne Arundel County, Mr. John P. Kennedy, of Baltimore City, Mr. Richard J. Bowie of Montgomery County, Mr. James M. Coale, of Frederick County, Mr. William T. Wootton, of Prince Georges County. On motion of Mr. John Leeds Kerr, the Electors present severally qualified by taking the oath required by the Constitution and Laws of this State, and by declaring their belief in the Christian Religion. On motion of Mr. James M. Coale, The Electors present temporarily organized by calling Mr. George Howard to the Chair, and appointing Joseph H. Nicholson Secretary. On motion of Mr. John P.
