73 The said credential was accordingly written, in due form and signed and sealed by the Electors. Whereupon, the President delivered it, together with the said Third Certificate to Jos. H. Nicholson, with directions to convey it with all convenient despatch, to the President of the Senate of the United States of America, and in the event of there being no President of the Senate, to deposite the same safely in the Department of the Secretary of State, at the seat of the Federal Government. On motion of Mr. Ricaud, the following order was read and adopted. Ordered, that the Secretary of the Electoral College for electing President and Vice President of the United States make a record of the Proceedings of this Body in the Book heretofore provided for that purpose, and now in the State Library. On motion of Mr. Kimmel the following Resolution was read; and the question put by the Secretary, " Will the Electors assent to said Resolution?" And it was determine unanimously in the affirmative. Resolved, that the thanks of the Electoral College be presented to the Presiding Officer for the able and dignified manner in which he has presided over its deliberation. On motion of Mr. Bowie, the following Resolution was read and unanimously adopted. Resolved, that the thanks of the Electoral College be given to Jos. H. Nicholson Esquire for the diligent and skilful manner in which he has discharged the duties of Secretary. The President rose and made his acknowledgments to the Electors, When, On motion of Mr. Bowie, They adjourned, sine die. Attest, Jos. H. Nicholson Secretary. |
