1832. Three certificates were accordingly made out in due form, signed, sealed and endorsed by the Electors, and addressed to the President of the Senate of the United States of America at Washington. One of which was delivered by the President to Mr. Smith, to be by him deposited in the Post office at this City; another to Mr. Heath to be by him delivered to the Judge of the District Court of the United States. On motion of Mr. Smith, the following Form of Credential was then read, the blank filled with the name of Jos. H. Nicholson, and adopted. State of Maryland, Towit: To all persons whom it may concern. Know ye that we the Electors of President and Vice President of the United States of America, duly elected in and for the State of Maryland, having met at the City of Annapolis, on the day prescribed by the Constitution and Laws of the United States, to perform the trust reposed in us; and having voted and made out in due form lists of the votes given, and the persons voted for and having confidence in __________ __________ Esquire, of the City of Annapolis, have appointed, and by these present do appoint and authorise him to take charge of one of said Lists, and with all convenient despatch deliver the same to the President of the Senate of the United States of America.
