327 Minutes 1936 Proceedings of Electors of President and Vice President of the United States of America in and for the State of Maryland. At noon on Monday, December 14, 1936, the Electors of the State of Maryland for President and Vice President of the United States, assembled in the State House at Annapolis. There were present: James R. Cadden, Harry A. Cantwell, Wilmer C. Carter, William J. Grove, Joseph P. Healy, William Preston Lane, Jr., John T. Tormollan, and John B. A. Wheltte, Honorable William Preston Lane, Jr. was selected as Chairman, and Willis R. Jones was selected as Secretary. The following certificate in sextuplicate was received from Governor Harry W. Nice of Maryland: Executive Department Annapolis, Maryland I, Harry W. Nice, Governor of the State of Maryland, do hereby certify to Honorable Cordell Hull, Secretary of State of the United States (in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Congress of the United States, approved June 5, 1934, as follows: " The Electors of President and Vice President of each State shall meet and give their votes on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December next following their appointment at such place on each State on the legislature of such State shall direct." (48 Stat. 879) that the final ascertainment of the result of the election for Presidential Electors of the State of Maryland held in this State on the 3rd day of November, 1936, a copy of which ascertainment is on file |
