                                        Annapolis Dec 6th 1876.

Gentlemen of the Electoral College
of Maryland
                    I have the honor of transmitting to
you Certificates of your election as Electors as required
by the act of Congress and Revised Statutes of the United
States.
                                    John Lee Carroll.

On motion of Mr. Bryan the Electors then proceeded to
ballot for President and Vice President of the United States
in conformity with the requirements of the Constitution and
Laws.

Mr. Raine nominated the Hon. Samuel T.
Tilden of the State of New York for President of
the United States.

The ballots of the Electors were deposited in the
ballot box which was seated and delivered by the
President to Messrs Marbury and Nelson who
on Counting the ballots in the presence of the Electors
reported there had been Eight ballots cast all of which
were for Samuel T. Tilden whereupon it was
declared that Samuel T. Tilden of the State of
New York had received Eight votes for President
of the United States of America from and after the
third day of March next ensuing being the whole
number to which the State of Maryland is entitled.

On motion of Mr. Marbury the Electors proceeded to
ballot for Vice President of the United States.  Mr. Gittings
nominated Thomas A. Hendricks of the State of Indiana,
The ballots of the Electors were deposited in the ballot box
which was sealed and delivered by the President to
Mess. Marbury and Nelson who on Counting the ballots
in the presence of the Electors reported there had been
Eight ballots cast all of which were for Thomas A.
