Proceedings of Electors
                                of
                President and Vice President of the United
States, in and for the State of Maryland 1876

On the first Wednesday in December being the sixth
day of the said month in the year 1876 the day appointed
by the Constitution and Laws of the United States, on which
the Electors of President and Vice President of the United
States of America are directed to assemble and perform
the trust reposed in them, there, appeared in the Senate
Chamber, in the City of Annapolis (The place designated by
Acts of Assembly for the meeting of the said Electors) the
following gentlemen who had been proclaimed by the Executive
Authority of the State to have been duly elected Electors of
President and Vice President of the United States in and
for the State of Maryland; To Wit.
                        Hon. Richard B. Carmichael
                                    Frederick Raine                at Large
1st Dist            James M. Dennis
2      "              Richard T. LeMasey
3      "              Wm. Sheppard Bryan
4      "              Charles G. Kerr
5      "               Teudall Marbury
6      "               Frederick Y. Nelson
The said Electors severally qualified by taking
the oath prescribed by the Constitution to be taken
by all Civil Officers, and by declaring their
belief in the Christian Religion.

On motion of Mr. Raine Hon Richard B. Carmichael
was unanimously chosen President.
On motion of Mr. Kerr Augustus Gassaway of
Annapolis City was elected Secretary who duly
qualified as such.
On motion of Mr. Dennis a committee of three was appointed
to wait upon the Governor and inform him of the organization
of the College.
                        The following Communication was received
from His Excellency Governor Carroll by the hands of
