The Democrats were victorious in Maryland
carrying Baltimore City and the following
counties: Allegany, Calvert, Cecil, Charles,
Kent, Montgomery, Prince George's, St.
Mary's and Somerset.
Carter's administration got oft to an encour-
aging start; however, the country was in tur-
moil at the end of four years. Rejected by the
voters. Carter joined the ranks of the few in-
cumbent Presidents who were not re-elected.
