MISCELLANIA
In keeping with the national trend, the
Republicans won all counties in Maryland,
losing only Baltimore City to the Democrats.
Following the Watergate scandal, Nixon re-
signed on August 9, 1974. Gerald Ford suc-
ceeded to the Presidency, becoming the first
President to attain that office without elec-
tion. Former Governor of New York, Nelson
A. Rockefeller was chosen as Vice President.
The President and Vice President were both
appointed rather than elected.
