At a SESSION of the GENERAL ASSEMBLY 
    of MARYLAND, begun and held at the city of
    ANNAPOLIS, on Monday the third of November, 
    and ended the twenty-third day of December, in
    the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
    and eighty-eight, the following LAWS were
    enacted:

            JOHN EAGER HOWARD, Esq; Governor.

                                            CHAP. I.
An ACT to enable the judges of the general court to continue certain
    causes therein mentioned, and to adjourn the county courts
    therein mentioned.

22.
    WHEREAS several gentlemen having business in the said courts are
obliged to attend the general assembly as members thereof, and sundry
causes in the general court are ready for trial, and cannot by law be
continued beyond the present October term;
Preamble.
    II.  And Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the judges of
the general court may, in their discretion, continue all causes now depending in
the general court of the western shore, to the second Tuesday of May next.

    III.  And be it enacted, That the court for Montgomery county to be held on
the second Tuesday of November, shall be and is hereby adjourned to the second
Tuesday of January next; and the court for Washington county to be held on
the fourth Tuesday of November, shall be and is hereby adjourned to the fourth
Tuesday of January next.

                                            CHAP. II.
            An ACT for the adjournment of Harford county court.

    WHEREAS several gentlemen having business in the said court are
obliged to attend the general assembly.
Preamble.
    II.  Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the court for
Harford county to be held on the fourth Tuesday in this present month of November,
shall be and is hereby adjourned to the third Tuesday in March next;
and that all causes, pleas and proceedings, civil and criminal, therein depending,
be considered on the said third Tuesday in March next, as in the same plight and
condition, in every respect, as they would be in on the said fourth Tuesday in
November, if this act had not been passed.

                                            CHAP. III.
An ACT to prevent the going at large of swine, goats and geese,
                                in Elkton, in Cæcil county.

    WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, that sundry persons
living in and near Elkton, in Cæcil county, raise and keep a
great number of swine, goats and geese, and suffer them to go at
large in said town, to the great detriment of the inhabitants thereof;
Preamble.
    II.  Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall and may
be lawful for any person or persons, after the first day of April next, to seize and
secure any swine, goats or geese, that may be found at large within the limits of
the town aforesaid, and the same retain in his, her, or their possession, till the
