                  To the LAWS containing them.
 

    In this Index, the name of the month, and number of the year, indicate the session at
which the act referred to was passed; ch. with the number annexed, points out the act; and
sec. with figures, is sometimes used to shew the section or clause of the act where the matter
may be found; decl. stands for declaration of rights; and const. for constitution and
form of government.
 
                                        A.
        ADMINISTRATORS and EXECUTORS.

    CERTAIN duties prescribed, and powers given to 
them.  February, 1777, ch. 8, sec. 12, 13, 14, 15,
16, 17.
    Directed as to appraisements, and made answerable for
amount of sales.  November 1779, ch. 24, sec. 2, 3.
    Testators may forbid appraisement.  Ibid. sec. 5.
    Authorised to pay in the new bills of credit.  October,
1780, ch. 5, sec. 12.
    Wills to be proved where testator died.  May, 1781,
ch. 22.
    Wills to be proved where witnesses reside.  April, 1783,
ch. 30.
                                ADMIRALTY.

    Court established by the last convention.  See the resolve under the act of November, 1781, ch. 29.

                              AFFIRMATION.
    In some cases allowed instead of an oath.  Decl. 36.

                                ANNAPOLIS.

    A church to be therein built.  1774, ch. 11.
    Secured in its rights.  Decl. 37.
    To choose two delegates.  Const. 4.
    To choose one elector of the senate.  Const. 14.
    In corporation enabled to sell or lease certain lands,
and the jurisdiction of the mayor's court ascertained.
June., 1777, ch. 3.
    The theatre vested in trustees.  April, 1782, ch. 52.
    In corporation enabled to sell certain lands, lay a tax,
and regulate ordinary-keepers and retailers.  1784, ch. 49.

                    ANNE-ARUNDEL COUNTY.

    Provision made for its poor.  1771, ch. 36.
    Other provisions of same kind.  September, 1773,
ch. 9.
    The old council chamber vested in its county court.
1769, ch. 14.
    The court enabled to lay an extraordinary levy.  February, 1777, ch. 1.
    A fine established between it and Calvert county.  October, 1777, ch. 7.

    Visitors of its county school enabled to qualify and act.
May, 1781, ch. 19.

                                    APPEALS.

    Court adjourned.  September, 1770, ch. 5, 1771,
ch. 2 and 24.
    Appeals to the king of Engaland in council regulated.

    A new court instituted.  Const. 56.
    Enabled to appoint its clerk.  March. 1780, ch.

    Actions therein  revived, one judge enabled for certain
purposes to sit, and an oath imposed on the judges.  June,

                              ARMY and NAVY.

    Standing armies reprobated.  Decl. 26.
    Military declared subordinate to the civil power.  Decl.

    How quartering of soldiers ought to be regulated.

    None but the military ought to be subject to martial 
law.  Decl. 29.
    Desertion punished.  February, 1777, ch. 2.
    Recruiting encouraged.  February, 1777, ch. 3.
    March of troops expedited.  February, 1777, ch. 4.

    Cloathing directed for this state's quota.  October,
