CHAP. XXXI.

Preamble. |
WHEREAS many persons may, between the sitting of
the several county
courts in this state, be desirous to keep public ferries; and whereas
no provision is made nor any power given to the justices in that
case: |
Justices may
appoint persons
to keep
ferry, &c. |
II. Be it enacted,
by the general assembly of Maryland, That on the application
of any person desirous to keep a public ferry, at any place within
this state where
ferries have heretofore been usually kept, any two justices of the peace
may, between
the sitting of the county court, appoint such person to keep ferry until
the
next county court, agreeable to the act for regulating public ferries;
and any person
obtaining such permit shall enter into recognizance before the two justices
aforesaid, similar to the recognizance directed by the above recited act. |
And may
grant licence,
&c. |
III. And be
it enacted, That when and as often as any person shall apply to
the justices of any county court for a licence to keep a public ferry,
and shall
offer two good and sufficient securities, the said justices may and shall
grant a licence
to such person to keep ferry, notwithstanding the said court may have,
previous
to such application, granted licence or licences to other persons to keep
ferry
at the same place. |

CHAP. XXXII.
An ACT for vesting an estate in fee-simple in Eleazer McComb, in one
lot and
a half of land lying in Chester-town, in Kent county. |

CHAP. XXXIII.
An additional supplement to the act to settle and adjust the accounts
of the troops of this state in the service of the United
States, and
for other purposes. |
Preamble. |
WHEREAS, by the resolve of congress of the tenth
of April, seventeen
hundred and eighty, it is declared, that so soon as proper documents
can be obtained, congress will cause to be made good to all officers
and soldiers then in service the depreciation of their pay: And whereas,
by the
act to settle and adjust the accounts of the troops of this state in the
service of the
United States, and for other purposes, passed at October session, seventeen
hundred
and eighty, such officers and soldiers at lest service between the said
tenth
day of April and the passing of the said act are not provided for: |
Certain officers,
&c. allowed
depreciation. |
II. Be it enacted,
by the general assembly of Maryland, That all officers and
soldiers of the troops of this state, who were in service on the tenth
day of April,
seventeen hundred and eighty, shall have the depreciation of their pay
while in
service made good to them, in the same manner as is directed, by the aforesaid
act, to officers and soldiers who were in service at the passage of the
aforesaid act. |
