OCTOBER, 1699 COURT 617

above a quarter of a Mile into the woods Conteineing about one hundred acres
the which Parcell of Land I doe hereby make over unto him and his heires for
Ever from me my heires and Successors Emporors of Piscattaway and doe hereby
warrant and promise to defend the Same against them and all other Indians that
Shall or may Lay any Claime to the Same In testimony whereof I have hereunto
Fixt my Scale and Subscribd these presents att Piscattaway the twelvth day of
Sept. 1698.

Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of Thomas Addison, Thomas
Orton.

Sept. the 12th 1698.

This Day the Emporer of Piscattaway did Signe Seal and Deliver the Deed and
Did acknowledge his right and title of the above mentioned trackt of Land to
be the right and title of the above Named William Hutchison acknowledged
before me. William Hatton

By this Publick Instrument of Procuration or Letter of Attorney Bee it known
and manifest unto all People that on the thirtieth day of October Annoque
Domini 1701 And in the thirteenth year of the reign of William the third King of
England that Before me Jeremiah Jenkins Notary and Tabellion publick by Royal
Authority admitted and Sworn dwelling in London and in the presence of the
underwritten witnesses personally appear Mr. Jonathan Mathews of London afore-
said Merchant unto me Notary wel known which Appearer hath made ordained
and constituted As by these presents he doth make ordain and Constitute Captain
Thomas Gray of Maryland to be his true and lawful Attorney giving unto him ful
power authority and special charge for and in the name and to the use of him
Constituant To ask demand sue for levy recover and receive of and from all and
every such person and persons whom it may concern All and singular such sum
and sums of money debts effects and things whatsoever as now are, or which at
any time or times hereafter shal become due owing belonging or in any wise
appteining unto the said Constituant in Maryland or elsewhere in America,
either by bill bond book account or otherwise for what cause or reason soever the
same may bee Nothing excepted nor reserved, with all costs damages and Interests,
And upon the Recoveries and receipt to make and pass due and sufficient Acquit-
tance and discharge et Lites in amplissima forma Contestari cum facultate sub-
stituend And generally to doe say transact and accomplish whatsoever the Con-
stituant himself cold doe if personally present: Hee hereby promising to hold and
ratify for vallid whatsoever his said Attorney or his substitutes shal do by vertue
hereof Thus don and passed in London the day and year afore[said].

June the 24th 1702.

Then came before us Col. Thomas Holliday and Mr. William Hutchison two
of her Majesties Justices for Prince Georges County Daniel of Saint Thomas
Jenifer, Joachim Michael and made oath that they saw the within instrument of
writing signed sealed and delivered.

Jurat coram nobis as witnes our hands. Thomas Holliday, William Hutch-
