Nicholas Sporne by their attorneys afforesaid and the Said Thomas Wheeler
Prayeth that the Said Nicholas Sporne To his Declaration aforesaid may answer.

And the Said Nicholas Sporne by Joshua Cecell his Attorney aforesaid comes
and defends the Force and Injury when and Saith that he hath Paid Part of
the Said Bill he was Sued for but could not produce any receipt to Proove the
Same.

Therefore it is Considered that the Said Thomas Wheeler recover against the
aforesaid Nicholas Sporne Defendant as well the Sume of Nine hundred pounds
of Tobacco his Debt aforesaid unless the Said Nicholas Sporne make appear
any be paid of the Said bill dureing the Session of this Court as allso the Sume
of two hundred forty and four pounds of Tobacco to the Said Plantiff of his
Assent for his Cost and Charge[s] of Suite by the Court here adjudged and the
Said Nicholas Sporne Defendant in mercy.

James Brooke by William Stone his attorney brought his Majesties Writt
against the Defendan[t] in a plea of Tresspass upon the Case it being for one
Thousand Ninety two pounds of Tobacco as by Declaration Filed and account
here Entred may appear.

March the 30th 1699.

Then Came James Brooke and Made Oath before us that the above is a Just
and true account and that he hath Received noe Part nor parcell thereof,
Robert Tyler, Samuell Magruder.

And the Said Murphey Ward by Joshua Cecell his Attorney comes and Defends
the force and Injury when etc. and Prayeth Lycence thereof to impare here untill
the next Court and it is Granted unto him the Same Day is given to the Plative
Likewise Att which day (to witt) the 26th day of September Annoque Domini
1699 came as well the Said James Brooke Plantiff as the Said Murphey Ward by
their Attorneys aforesaid and the Said James Brooke Prayeth that the Said
Murphey Ward to his Declaration may answer.

And the Said Murphey Ward by Joshua Cecell his attorney comes and defends
the Force and Injury when etc. and Saith that he did not assume in manner and
forme and putts himselfe upon the Court by Consent. Joshua Cecell.
