And the Said William Jones by William Stone his attorney comes and Defends
the force and Injury when etc. and prayeth to Imparle here untill the next
Court and it is Granted unto him the Same day is given to the Plantiff Likewise.
Att which day to Witt the 22d day of August Annoque Domini 1699 came
the Said William Parker by Joshua Cecell his attorney aforesaid but the Said
William Jones Though Solemnly Called came not but made default.
Therefore it is Considered that the Said William Parker Plantiffe doe recover
against the Aforesaid William Jones Defendant as well the Sume of two Thou-
sand two hundred Sixty and two pounds of Tobacco his Debt aforesaid as allso
the Sume of five hundred forty three pounds of Tobacco to the Plantiffe of his
Assent for his Cost and Charges of Suite by the Court here adjudged and the
Said William Jones Defendant in Mercy.
His Majesty Plantiff: John Rooke, Defendant
The Jurors of our Sovereigne Lord the King for the body of Prince Georges
County upon their Oaths doe present John Rooke Late of Prince Georges
County Labourer that he the Said John Rooke upon or about the first day of
June in the year of our Lord 1697 at Mattapany Hundred within the Jurisdic-
tion of this Court not haveing the fear of God before his Eyes but mooved by
the Instigation of the Devill then and there had to doe with one Deborah
Woodfield and on the body of The Said Deborah Woodfeild did begett a male
Child commonly Called a Basterd Contrary to his Majesties peace and act of
assembly in that case made and provided.

The Plantiffe by Joshua Cecell his Attorney brought his Majesties writt
against the Defendant in a Plea of tresspass upon the Case etc. being for two
hundred fifety Seven and a half pounds of Tobacco due upon the Ballance of
accounts as by Declaration Filed and account here Entred may appear etc.

Then came Captaine John Lowther before me and Made Oath upon the

force and Injury when etc. and Saith that he cannot gainesay the action of the
Said John Lowther nor but that he oweth the Said John Lowther Plantiffe the
