To these three Actions the Defendant in their proper person Came and Con-
fesed Judgment to the Same but haveing no Decleralions nor Account nor bills
filed Cannot make du[e] Entry of the Same: William Johnson against Charles
Wheler - trespass on the Case; Allexander Chappie against Richard Moore -
Debt 400; Edward Brock against Hugh Ruley - Debt 800.
[39] Then did the Court Adjourne till to morrow morning Eight a Clock,
and then mett and Satt as followeth (viz.).
Present. Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. William Hutchinson, Mr. William Bar-
ton, Mr. John Wighte, Mr. Robert Bradley, Mr. David Small, Comisoners.
Uppon the death of Mr. William Coopper the Late Clarke of this County who
Departed this Life the Last night. It is ordered that the Sheriffe take into his
Costody all the papers that any wayes Relates to the Records of this County that
are at the Said Coopers Lodging att Rob[ert] Lyles and Secure them in Mr.
Bradlys Store house which was Accordingly Done.
Ordered by the Court that Mr. Robert Bradley take the Records of this Court
into his possession untill a Clarke Shall bee Appointed by Lawfull Authority.
Uppon Mr. Coopers Death the Court here doth Request Mr. William Bladen
to write to the Governour about the Clarks place and that the Justices doe think
Joshua Cecell fitt and Capable of undertaking the Said place if the Gouvernour
Shall think fitt thereof.
Upon a Complaint made to the Court that Thomas Date had took Some
money out of Mr. Coopers Pockett after his death with an Intent to keep the
Same Whereupon it is ordered that the Sheriffe Imediatly take the Said Thomas
Date into his Costody and bring him before this Court, who Imediately Ap-
peared in the Costody of the Sheriffe and being Examined it did Appeare to the
Court here that he did unlawfully take money out of Mr. Coopers pockett as he
was a Stripping Whereupon it is ordered that the Sheriffe putt the Said Thomas
Date into the Stocks and there to Continue two houres which was Accordingly
done.
Ordered by the Court here that John Stevens find Securyty to Appeare here
the next Court to answer unto Such things and matters as Shall on the behalfe
of his Majesty bee Objected against him and in the meane time be of good
behavour.
Whereupon Came into Court the Said John Stevens together with Mr.
Thomas Hollyday his Securyty and Acknowledged themselves indebted unto our
Sovereigne Lord the King in the Sume of tenn pounds Sterling apeice to be
Leavied on their goods and Chatties Lands and tennements for his Majestys use
if Soe be that the Said John Stevens doe not well and truly Appeare at the next
Prince Georges County Court to be held att Charles Towne the fourth Tuesday
in September next and in the meane time to be of good Abearance as well to-
wards his Majesty as all the good people of this province etc.
