JUNE, 1698 COURT 349

Eare. otherwise Called A poplar Leafe on the Right Eare and a Spade in the
Left Eare.

The Defendants in their proper person to these 6 Actions Appears and
Imparle till next Court: Garrett Vanswareingen against William Stimpson — tres-
pass on the Case; James Moore against Thomas Taney - trespass on the Case;
John Fry against Samuell Warren - trespass on the Case; Edmond Evins against
William Groome - trespass on the Case; James Browne against Henry Dreyden -
trespass on the Case; Charles Riggby against Charles Traceys Administrator -
trespass on the Case.

The Defendants to these 4 Actions by John Meriton their Attorney Appears
and Imparles till next Court: Paul Busey and Nathan Veetch against Thomas
Vaughnee — trespass on the Case; John Hume against James Henry - trespass
on the Case; Edward and Dudley Carleton against Thomas Tracey - trespass on
the Case; the Same against the Same-Debt 1011.

The Defendants by William Stone their Attorny Appear and Imparl till next
Court: Thomas Nellson against Richard Charletts Administrator - trespass on
the Case John Meriton against Matthew Mockeboy - trespass on the Case.

The Court Adjourned untill to morrow morning Eight a Clock.
Present. Mr. William Barton, Mr. John Wight, Mr. Robert Tylor, Mr. John
Smith, Mr. John Hawkins, Mr. Robert Wade, Mr. Samuell Magruder, Mr.
Thomas Sprigg, Commisoners.

Edmund Heneper Servant to Christopher Baynes Adjudged twenty years of
Age to Serve According to Act of Assembly etc.

Ordered that the Sheriffe Sumons William Norris, William Williams and
Michaell Catterton of Thomas Taney and Jane his Wife Administratrix of
Henry Trueman against Ignatias Creycroft.

Ordered that Teague Tracey be Sumoned to next Court to testify about
Elizabeth Slapcoate, Thomas Swareingen and William Groome.

Mary Vinson Servant woman to Mr. Robert Bradley was brought into Court
to Answer unto what Shall be Objected against her for haveing of a basterd
Child She Confesed the fact Whereupon It is Orderdered that the Sheriffe take
her to the wipping post and there give her fiftene Lashes And to Serve her
Said Master one yeare for the trouble of his house and the Loss of [320] her
Servis Whereupon Came Edward Enscoe Into open Court and proffered four
hundred lbs. of tobaccoe to pay as a fine to keepe the Said Mary from Wipping
Upon which Came Mr. Robert Bradley and offered himselfe to be the Said
Enscoe Security for the payment of the Said four hundred pounds of tobaccoe
which was by the Court Accepted off Whereupon Shee was Cleared from the
wipping before ordered.

James Jures Came into Court and Acknowledged himselfe Indebted unto our
Sovereigne Lord the King in tenn pounds Sterling to be Leavyed on his goods
and Chatties Lands and tenements for his Said Majesties use if Soe be Alice
Jures his wife doe not Appeare at the next Prince Georges County Court to be
held at Charles Towne the fourth Tuesday in August next to Answer unto Such
