Steven Ashby And that the Said Steven Ashby have Execution for the Same in his
hands aforesaid Attached etc.

Joshua Cecell plantiffe: James Catterton Defendant

Command was given to the Sheriffe of Prince Georges County that of the
goods Chatties and Creditts of James Catterton he Attach in the hand or hands
of any person or persons in this County the Sume of fifteene hundred Sixty
three pounds of tobaccoe or the vallew thereof if Soe much Shall be found in
his balywick And when he had the Same [301] Attached or any part thereof
the Same in Custody to keepe Soe that he have the Same before the Justices of
our next Prince Georges County Court to be held att Chales Towne the fourth
Tuesday in March 1697 [1698] And Likewise at the time of Executeing the
Said writt he give notice to all person or persons in whose hands or possesion
he Attach Such goods aforesaid that they be and Appeare before the Justices of
our Said next County Court to be held at Charles Towne aforesaid to Shew
Cause if any hee or they have why the Said goods Soe Attached Should not be
Condemned and Execution thereon had and made etc. And now here at this
day (to witt) the 22d day of March 1697 [1698] Came the Said Joshua Cecell
in his propper person and as well the Said James Catterton as the Said William
Jones Although Solemly Called Came not nor Either of them Came and De-
fended the Said writt of Attachment etc.

And the Sheriffe now Returneth that he by vertue of the writt aforesaid hee
Attached in the hands of William Jones the Said Sume of tobaccoe in the writt
of Attachment mentioned and that he hath made knowne to the Said William
Jones that he be here this day to Shew Cause in forme aforesaid. The truth of
the matter in Controversie between the parties aforesaid by the Court here being
Seen heard understood and Maturely Deliberated it is thereupon Considered
that one thowsand pounds of tobaccoe be Condemned in the hands of the Said
William Jones and that the Said Joshua Cecell have Execution against the
[said] William Jones of the Said one thowsand pounds of tobaccoe Soe as afore-
said in his hands Attached as aforesaid, etc.

John Meriton plantiffe: Richard Edwards Defendant

Command was given to the Sheriffe of Prince Georges County that of the
goods Chatties and Creditts of Richard Edwards he Attach to the vallew of one
thowsand three hundred forty Seven pounds of tobaccoe in the hand or hands
of any person or persons in this County if Soe much Shall be found in his
baliwick and when he had the Same Attached or any part thereof the Same in
his Costody to keep Soe that he have the Same before the Justices of our next
Prince Georges County Court to be held at Charles Towne the fourth Tuesday
in March 1697 [1698] And Likewise at the time of Executeing the Said writt he
give notice to all person or persons in whose hands or possesion he Attach Such
goods goods as aforesaid that they be and Appeare before the Justices of our
Said next County Court to be held at Charles Towne Aforesaid to Shew Cause
if any they have why the Said goods Soe Attached Should not be Condemned
and Execution thereon had and made etc.

And now here att this day (to witt) the 22d day of March 1697 [1698] Came
the Said John Meriton in his proper person and offered himselfe against the
Defendant aforesaid. And the Sheriffe now Returneth that he by vertue of the
writt aforesaid hath Attached in the hands of Peter Skamper the Said Sume of
one thowsand three hundred forty Seven pounds of tobaccoe in the writt of
