NOVEMBER, 1697 COURT 277 The Court Adjourned untill to morrow morning Six a Clock. In Obedience to Acts of Assemblys of this province made at a Sessions of John Chittam, foreman, James Brooke, John Cozens, Archable Edmonson, Which Said Jurors haveing taken the Oath as Followeth (Viz) You A: B: Upon which the Said Jurors went out to Consider on the premises and in a Likewise in Obedience to the Acts of Assemblys of this province made at a John Chittam, foreman, James Brooke, John Cozens, Archable Edmonson, [255] Which Said Jurors haveing all taken the Oaths as Followeth (Viz.) You A: B: etc. Shall well and truly Enquier into the true Value of the Lands Laid out by the Surveyour of this County for the use of the Church in Charles Towne According to Act of Assemblys in that Case made and provided (You A: B: etc. Shall well and truly enquier into the true Value of the Lands Laid out by the Surveyour of this County for the use of the Court house to be built in Charles Towne According to Act of Assembly in that Case made and provided (So help you God) Upon which the Said Jurors went out to Consider on the premises and in Some Short time Returned and it being by the Court demanded of them their Verdict in the premises doe all of them upon their oaths Say (that they doe Allow unto the owner or owners of the Five Acres of Land Laid out for the use of the Church and Court house in Charles Towne Nine hundred pounds of tobaccoe for each Acre. The Court Adjourned for two howers.
