Att Prince Georges County Court held att Charles Towne the twenty Eight
day of September in the ninth yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord
William by the Grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King
Defender of the Faith etc. Annoque Domini 1697 By his Majesties Justices there-
unto Appointed and Authorized (Viz.)
Present. Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. John Wighte, Mr. John Hawkins, Mr.
Robert Wade, Mr. Samuell Magruder, Mr. Thomas Sprigg, Commissioners.
Then was Overseers for the Highwaies for this County Nominated and Ap-
pointed (Viz.)
Isaack Williams and James Thomas Overseers for Mattapony hundred.
Morreen Devall and Richard Jones Overseers for Mount Calvert hundred. John
Pottinger and James Mullekin for Collington hundred. Hugh Ryley and Thomas
Plumer Overseers for Pattuxent hundred. Daniell Elliott and Francis Prisley
Overseers for New Scotland hundred. Daniell Connell and Robert Clarke Over-
seers for Pescattaway hundred.
And whereupon Warrants was Issued out to Each person Above named Ac-
cordingly.
Mr. David Small being in Court the Court Demanded of him what title hee
Could make of the Land in Charles Towne whereon the Court house is to bee
built Upon which the Said Small made knowne to the Court here by what title
he held the Said Land And it Appeareing to the Court here that the Said Land
Lying in Charles [Towne] whereon the Court house is to be built and the Land
whereon the Church is now built is Least Land unto Capt. Thomas Emms and
the Said David Small for ninty nine years from William Groome And the Court
