AUGUST, 1697 COURT 243
Ordered that James Watts pay Samuell Williams for two dayes Attendance for
him against Richard Marsham he haveing Sworne to the Same at thirty lbs.
tobaccoe for Each day.
James Brooke Sworne that he Attended three dayes for James Watts against Mr.
Marsham Ordered that Watts pay him at the Rate of thirty lbs. of tobaccoe for
Each day.
David Small by oath proved the bill of John Deakins to Allexander Chappie
And Likewise Swore that he Attended three days for Chappie against Deakins.
Ordered that the Said Chappell pay him ninty pounds of tobaccoe for his 3 dayes
Attendance.
Charles Tracy and Hugh Furguson Subpoenaed and Sworne for John Deakins
at the suit of Allexander Chappell and Teague Tracey, David Small and
Edward Fenix wife Sworne for John Deakins at the suit of Allexander
Chappell.
Hugh Furguson by oath proved an Account against John Putt.
William Conley made oath that he Attended two dayes as an Evidence for
Charles Busey against William Rothery Ordered that Charles Busey pay the Said
William Conley Sixty lbs. of tobaccoe for his Said Attendance.
[222] Ordered that the Sheriffe bring the body of Timothy Mahany to the next
Court to Answer unto Certaine Action depending in this Court against him at
the Suite of John Marsh and Company.
Henry Tunks made oath that he Attended as an Evidence two dayes for Rich-
ard Marsham at the Suite of James Watts Ordered that the Said Marsham pay
the Said Tunks 60 lbs. tobaccoe for his two dayes Attendance.
Mr. Thomas Greenfeild Administrator of Richard Charlett Deceased brought
his Majesties writt against Robert Gates in an Action of trespass upon the Case
etc. And as well the Said Thomas Greenfeild Administrator aforesaid as the Said
Robert Gates here Came and Desired the Court to Assigne them Auditors to
State Accounts between them etc. Whereupon the Court Assigned them Auditors
(Viz.) Mr. John Wighte and Mr. Richard Marsham to State Accounts between
them etc.

Prince Georges County Ss. Thomas Orton late of Prince Georges County
Sadler otherwise Called Thomas Orton of Calvert County in the province of
Maryland Sadler was Sumoned to Answer unto Thomas Taney and Jane his
wife Administratrix of the goods and Chatties of Henry Trueman late of Calvert
County Inholder Deceased of a plea that he render unto them the full and Just
Sume of twelve hundred pounds of tobaccoe in Caske which from them he un-
justly Detaineth etc.
And whereupon the Said Thomas and Jane by James Cranford their Attorney
Saith that the Said Thomas Orton in the Life time of the Said Henry that is to
Say the 19th day of March in the year of our Lord 1691/2 at Calvert County
that is to Say at Charles Towne within the Jurisdiction of this Court by his Cer-
taine bill Obligatory which the Said Thomas and Jane with the Scale of the
Said Thomas Orton Signed bringeth here into Court the date whereof is the day
and yeare aforesaid did bind himselfe his heires Executors and Administrators
