188 PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY

of our Reigne and in the yeare of our Lord one thowsand Six hundred ninety
Seven. Francis Nicholson.

Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. William Barton, Mr. John Wighte, Mr. Robert
Tylor, Mr. John Hawkins, Mr. Robert Wade, and Mr. Thomas Sprigg Jr. have-
ing all of them taken the oaths Appointed by Act of Parliment as alsoe the oath of
Justice of the Peace for Prince Georges County tooke their Seates etc.

Mr. William Bladen tooke the oaths Appointed by Act of Parlyment and alsoe
the oath of a Clerke of Peace of this County Mr. William Stone Mr. John Meriton
Mr. Henry Bonner tooke the oaths Appointed by Act of parliment and alsoe the
oath of Attorney Joshua Cecell tooke the Oaths Appointed by Act of parliment
and alsoe the oath of Clerke for Prince Georges County Court etc.

Present. Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. William Barton, Mr. John Wighte, Mr.
Robert Tylor, Mr. John Hawkins, Mr. Robert Wade, Mr. Thomas Sprigg,
Jr., Comisoners.

Ordered by the Court that Elizabeth Pole Servant woman to Allexander Harbert
have twelve Lashes on her bare back for beareing of a basterd Child which was
by the Sheriffe Accordingly done and Likewise ordered that her Master payes all
Officers Fees Accrueing about her presentment etc. [170] Elizabeth Pole
Alledged that one Cornelius Hunt gott her with Child Whereupon It is ordered
by the Court that the Said Cornelius Hunt and Elizabeth Pole bee Sumoned to
Appeare the next Court to Answer etc.

Mr. Thomas Hollyday Mr. John Meriton and Mr. Henry Bonner did testifie to
the Court that Mr. Thomas Hollydays woman Servant Suanna Grimes did desier
that her base borne Child Named John Browne Grimes Should be bound unto
John Browne untill he Came to twenty one yeares of Age Whereupon it is
ordered by the Court here that the Said Child is bound unto the Said John
Browne untill he Arrives unto twenty one years of Age the Said Child now being
about thirteen months ould and that Said John Browne doe Learne the Said Child
to Reade and write and to give him at the Expiration of the time two Suites of
Cloaths the one to be Keirsey the other to be Serge with two of a Sort of all other
Necessary Apparrell All which the Said John Browne did Consent unto in open
Court.

Abigail Clifford in open Court binds her Child Called Edward Riston unto
Peter Skamper untill he Arrives unto the age of twenty one yeares the Said Child
now being three yeares old And the Said Peter Scamper in open Court doth
Acknowledge that he will learne the Said Child to Reade and write and at the
Expiration of his time give him two Suites of Cloaths the one to be Kersy the
other Serge with two of a Sort of all necessary Apparrell.

William Tanyhill, Gaune Hambleton, Francis Prisley, Daniell Elliott and his
wife made oath that they Attended two dayes apeice as Evidences for James
Stoddart at the Suite of Mordicay Moore Executor of Swallwell whereupon it is
ordered that the Said Stoddart pay unto Each of the aforesaid parties for
their two dayes Attendance at thirty lbs. of tobaccoe Each day for Each person etc.
