The plantiffes by their Attorny haveing Issued out two writts against the
Defendant boath which Said writts was Returned that the Said Defendant was
not to be found in his balywick and alsoe have Caused a Coppy of the Cause
of Action to be left at the house were the Defendant last lived in this County
Whereupon the Said Thomas Emms and Company by John Meriton their
Attorney prayeth an Attachment against the goods Chatties and Creditts of the
Said Owen Shulanan as well for the Said Sume of one hundred forty five pounds
of tobaccoe the ballance of Account aforesaid as alsoe the Sume of four hundred
and Seaven pounds of tobaccoe to the Said Thomas Emms and Company for
their Cost and Charges in this behalfe laid out and Expended According to Act
of Assembly in that Case made and provided etc. And by the Court here it is
granted unto them etc.

The Court Adjourned untill to morrow morning Eight a Clock.

Present. Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. William Barton, Mr. John Wighte, Mr.

Robert Tylor, Mr. William Tanyhill, Comisoners.

King Defender of the faith etc. To Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Major William Barton,
Mr. John Wighte, Mr. Robert Bradley, Mr. Robert Tylor, Mr. John Smith, Mr.
John Hawkins, Mr. Robert Wade, Mr. Samuell Magruder and Mr. Thomas
Sprigg Jr. of Prince Georges County gentlemen Greeting Know Yee that we for
the great trust and Confidence Wee have in your fidelityes circumspections prud-
ence and Wisdoms have Constituted ordained and Appointed and by these pres-
ents doe Constitute ordaine and Appoynt you the Said Thomas Hollyday, William
Barton, John Wighte, Robert Bradly, Robert Tylor, John Smith, John Hawkins,
Robert Wade, Samuell Magruder and Thomas Sprigg Jr. Commissioners Joyntly
and Severally to keepe the peace in Prince Georges [168] County and to keepe
and Cause to be kept all Lawes and orders for the good and Conservation of the
Peace and for the Quiett Rule and Government of the people in all and Every
the Articles of the Same and to Chastise and punish all persons offending against
the forme of any of the Lawes and orders of this our province or any of them in
Prince Georges County aforesaid as According to the forme of those lawes and
orders Shall be fitt to be done Wee have allsoe constituted and Appoynted you
and every five or more of you of which you the Said Thomas Hollyday, William
Barton, John Wighte, Robert Bradley and Robert Tylor or one of you are all-
wayes to be one of the Commisioners to Inquier [by] the oaths of good and Law-
full men of your County aforesaid of all and all manner of Fellonyes Witchcrafts
Inchantments Scorceries Magick Art trespasses forestallings Ingrosings and Ex-
tortions whatsoever and of all and Singular other Misdeeds and Offenses (Ex-
cepting) matters Relateing to titles of Land) of which Justices of the Peace in
England may or ought Lawfully to Enquier by whomesoever and wheresoever done
