by Default etc. together with two hundred Seaventy Seaven pounds of tobaccoe
for his Cost and Charges in this behalfe Sustained etc. and by the Court here
Adjudged etc. and the Said Hugh Jones in mercy etc.
The Court Adjourned for one hower and then mett and Satt as followeth
(Viz.)
Present. Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. William Barton, Mr. John Wighte, Mr.
Robert Bradley, Mr. David Small, Mr. William Tannyhill, Mr. Robert Tyler,
Comisoners.
Our Sovereigne Lord the King against. William Willson and Isack Williams.
Prince Georges County Ss. The Jurors for our Sovereigne Lord the King for
the body of Prince Georges County upon their Oaths doe present Isaack Wil-
liams and William Willson of the aforesaid planter for that they the Said Isaack
and William the 20th day of August 1696 last within the Jurisdiction of this
Court did felloniously Steale beare and Carry away one heiffer belonging to the
Estate of Richard Charlett Merchant Deceased Against the peace of our
Sovereigne Lord the King the good Lawes of his Kingdom of England and this
province.

And now here at this day (to witt) the 26th day of January 1696 [1697] this
Same Court before the Justices of our Said Court Came the Said Isaack Williams
and William Willson in Costody of the Sheriffe of this County and being
brought to the barr here in their proper persons it was demanded of them how
they would Acquitt themselves of the premises above Imposed upon them
Saith that they desier the favour of this Court to Admitt them and Attorney to
plead for them and by the Court here it is granted unto them. Whereupon
William Stone their Attorney espetially Admitted by the favour of the Court
Cometh and Defendeth etc. and Saith that the Said Isaack Williams and William
Willson is in no wise guilty of the premises above Imposed upon them and of
this they put themselves upon the Country. William Stone. And his
Majesty Likewise William Bladen.
Therefore lett a Jury thereof Imediately Come before the Said Justices of our
Sovereigne Lord the King and who etc. to Recognize etc. and because etc. and
the Said Isaack Williams and William Willson in Costody of the Said Sheriffe
is Committed in the meanetime. And hereupon William Bladen Attorney of our
Sovereigne Lord the King in this behalfe doth procecute Offered himselfe to doe
th Same by which it is Proceeded to take the Said Inquest by the Said Jurors
by the Sheriffe here Impaneled And now Appearing (Viz.)
John Smith foreman, Henry Dreyden, Edward Fenix, Marreen Devall, Joseph
Harryson, John Sprigg, Charles Beall, John Davis, John Dossett, Thomas
Prater, John Gardiner, Robert Biggs.
[116] Who to Speake the truth in the premises being Elected tryed and Sworne
doe Say upon their oaths that the Said Isaack Williams and William Willson
are guilty of Killing the heiffer but not of Stealing the Said heiffer by the reason
they have putt up the Eares.
Whereupon all and Singular the premises by the Court here being Seen and
understood it is Considered by the Court here that the Said Isaack Williams and
William Willson Enter into Recognizance to be of good behavour as well to-
wards his Majesty as all the good people of this province and to Appeare at
the next Prince Georges County Court and then to be discharged from the
