present time, in the education of destitute females
and orphans, and been the instrumental means of
accomplishing a vast amount of good to children of
that class,

 

AND WHEREAS, it is further represented to this
General Assembly, that the amount of property
which the trustees are authorized to receive and hold
under and by virtue of said act of incorporation, is
largely inadequate to carry forward and accomplish
the end for which it was granted, and to meet the
pressing demands now made upon the managers of
the said incorporation, in behalf of destitute female
orphan children; therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Trustees of the Orphan House
and Episcopal Free School Society of All Saints'
Church, Frederick town, and their successors in
their said corporate name be, and are hereby autho-
rized and empowered in law to receive and hold in
trust, as aforesaid, all kinds of gifts, grants, convey-
ances, donations, devises and bequests of estate, real,
personal and mixed property and effects to the amount
of forty thousand dollars in addition to the amount
the said trustees are authorized to receive and hold
in trust as aforesaid under and by the provisions of
the said act of incorporation, and to use the same
for the purposes as therein provided, and subject to
all the powers conferred upon the said trustees by
the said act of incorporation, and its supplement
passed at January session, eighteen hundred and
fifty-four, chapter one hundred and four, and subject
also to the control of the managers, as is provided
for in the said act of incorporation, and of its supple-
ment passed at January session of the General Assem-
bly of eighteen hundred and fifty-four, chapter one
hundred and four.

Sanctioned to
receive gifts,
grants, &c.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That the General Assem-
bly hereby reserves to itself the right, at any time,
to repeal, alter or amend this act.

Reserved.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the day of its passage.
