ordered, to pay unto the said David R. Brown the

sum of fifty dollars, the portion of the fine remitted,

and it being the extent of the State's interest therein.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take

CHAPTER 336.

AN ACT to pay Eli Whitney his claim against the

State of Maryland, and to defray the expenses in
|
 
|
the contested election cases in the several legis-
|
 
|
lative districts of Baltimore city; and of the
|
 
|
investigation by the House of Delegates into the
|
 
|
official conduct of the Board of Police . Commis-
|
 
|
sioners of Baltimore city; contested election cases
|
 
|
of St. Mary's and Calvert counties, first and third
|
 
|
legislative districts of Baltimore city.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly oj
|
 
|
Maryland, That the Comptroller of the Treasury is
|
 
|
authorized and directed to issue his warrant on the
|

Treasurer in favor of Eli Whitney, for five hundred

and ninety-five dollars and ninety-two cents, being

the amount due him by the State of Maryland; and

also his warrant upon the Treasurer for such sum

not exceeding ten thousand dollars in all, as may be
|

audited and recommended by the Chairman of the
|
 
|
Committee on Elections of the Senate, for the ex-

|
penses growing out of the contested election cases
