CHAPTER 38.

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and City Council
of Cumberland to issue bonds to raise money to
complete and furnish the City Hall and Market in
the city of Cumberland.
|
 
|
WHEREAS, by an ordinance of the Mayor and City
Council of Cumberland, and by an affirmative vote
of a large majority of the voters of said city, the sum
of fifty thousand dollars, in six per cent, bonds, was
authorized to be issued for the building of a City Hall
and Market, and whereas the said amount of bonds
has been issued, and the proceeds thereof disposed
of for the purpose therein specified, and it is found
necessary to obtain therefor the further sum of thirty-
five thousand dollars to complete and furnish the
same, therefor:

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the said Mayor and City Council of
Cumberland, be and they are hereby authorized and
empowered, for the purpose of completing and fur-
nishing the new City Hall and Market now in course
of erection in said city, to issue additional bonds to
an amount not exceeding thirty-five thousand dollars,
and only so much thereof as may be necessary, in
sums not less than one hundred dollars, nor more
than five hundred dollars, to be signed by the Mayor
and countersigned by the City Clerk, with the corpo-
rate seal of said city thereto attached, said bonds to

bear interest at the rate of six per cent, per annum,
the interest payable semi-annually in gold coin or its
equivalent in United States currency, for which inte-
rest proper coupons are to be attached to said bonds
