CHAPTER 316.

|
AN ACT to authorize the building of a new To-
|
|
 
|
bacco Warehouse on the site now owned by the
|
|
 
|
State in the City of Baltimore, and to appropriate
|
|
 
|
money for said purpose.
|
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
|

Maryland, That the Governor, Comptroller, Treas-
|
|
directed and
required.
|
urer, Attorney General and Supervisor of Ware-

|
houses, be and they are hereby authorized, directed
|
|
 
|
and required to have re-built one of the tobacco
|
|
 
|
warehouses which were burned in the City of Balti-
|
|
 
|
more.
|
|
 
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the sum of fifty-nine
|
|
 
|
thousand dollars, being the amount carried into the
|
|

State Treasury for insurance on the warehouses
|

|
which were burned, or so much thereof as may be
|
|
 
|
necessary, is hereby appropriated for the purpose of
|
|
 
|
building a tobacco warehouse as required in the
|
|
 
|
preceding section.

|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That before proceeding
|
|

to build said warehouse, they shall cause a plan and

specifications to be made of said contemplated new
|
|

warehouse, and shall advertise in two of the daily
|
|
 
|
papers of Baltimore, for ten day s, for proposals to con-

tract for said work, to be done under the supervision
|
|
 
|
of the architect employed by them; and they shall

|

der therefor, and shall pay for said building in such
|

sums, and at such times, as may be deemed right and
|

proper; provided, that in any contract for building

said warehouse, the commission shall require bond,
|
|
 
|
and retain ten per cent, of contract price, until the
|
|
 
|
building is completed; and provided further, that
|
|
 
|
the cost of said warehouse shall in no event exceed
|
|
 
|
the sum hereby appropriated; such payments to be
|
|
 
|
made by the Treasurer of this State upon the war-
|
|
 
|
rant of the Comptroller; and authority is hereby
|
|
 
|
given to the supervisor of warehouses, that if it be-
