CHAPTER 272.

AN ACT to repeal section eight of article one of the
|
|
 
|
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany coun-
|
|
 
|
ty," sub-title "Oakland," and to re-enact the same
|
|
 
|
with amendments.
|
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
|
Repealed and
|
Maryland, That section eight of article one of the
|
|
re-enacted.
|
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany county,"
|
|
 
|
sub-title "Oakland," be and the same is hereby re-
|
|
 
|
pealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows :
|
|
 
|
SEC. 8. The male citizens of the town, twenty-one
|
|

years of age, having resided therein six months, and

any such citizens of this State who owns a house and

lot in the town, shall on the first Monday in May

next and annually thereafter on the same day, select
|

four Commissioners and a Burgess for Oakland, to
|

serve one year from the date of their election and

|
 
|
until their successors are elected and qualified; the
|
|
 
|
burgess and commissioners must be resident citizens
|
|
 
|
of the corporate limits, and for his services the Bur-
|
|

gess shall receive fifty-dollars per year, and each of
|
|
 
|
the said commissioners shall be entitled to receive
|
|
 
|
one dollar and a-half per day for each and every day
|
|
 
|
he may be actually engaged in the discharge of the
|
|

duties of his office; provided, that none of said com-
|
|
 
|
missioners shall be entitled to receive pay for more
|
|
 
|
than six days in any one year.

|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act. shall take
