the ordinance of the said Mayor and City Council,
authorizing the same, shall have been submitted to
and "approved by the legal voters of the City of Balti-
more, in accordance with the provisions of the
seventh section of article eleven of the Constitution
of Maryland.

 

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That whenever,
and as often as it may be necessary hereafter, to issue
certificates of indebtedness of the said City of Balti-
more, either for loans of the said city already created
and authorized by law, or for the purpose of redeem-
ing loans of the said city which shall have matured,
provision may be made in the discretion of the said
Mayor and City Council for the payment of all taxes,
to which the holders of the said certificates shall or
may be legally liable, however that the rate of in-
terest payable on said loans shall not exceed the rate
of five per centum per annum.

Provision
made.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 238.

AN ACT to provide for the repairs of the Public
Roads of St. Mary's county.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That immediately after the passage of
this act, the County Commissioners of St. Mary's
county shall divide the public roads in each election
district of St. Mary's county, into pections of not
less than four, nor more than six miles in length, as
near as may be, without actual measurement, and
shall number them one, two, three, &c., consecutive-
ly, in each election district, and shall describe each
section, setting forth the beginning and end, with
intermediate parts and length, including all bridges
