of the peace for Queen Anne's county, shall be col-
lected by said justice of the peace and paid over to
the treasurer of the board of commissioners within
ten days after the collection of the same.
SEC. 27. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
are hereby authorized and empowered to purchase,
not exceeding two acres of land within one mile of
the limits of the town of Church Hill, whenever
funds sufficient shall have accumulated in the hands
of the commissioners, over and above the current
expenses of said corporation.

SEC. 28. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
are hereby empowered to open and close, by and
with the concurrence of the county commissioners,
any street, lane, alley, or avenue, whenever in their
judgment it shall become necessary; also to erect
lamps and provide for the lighting of the same, also
to provide for public water pumps, and also a public
pound for the purpose of impounding trespassing
stock, and shall fix the amount of fine for every
head of stock so impounded, and also that such
stock shall be liable for all fines, costs and for feed-
ing the same.

SEC. 29. And be it enacted, That as a source of reve-
nue, the commissioners are hereby empowered to
levy a tax upon all exhibitions, circuses, menageries
and other amusements for gain, as the said commis-
sioners, in their judgment, shall think reasonable.

SEC. 30. Arid be it enacted, That the commissioners
are hereby empowered to hear all grievances and
complaints, and shall have the power to remit any
fine or penalty imposed under any ordinance of the
corporation of Church Hill, except in cases tried be-
fore a justice of the peace, in which cases the right
of appeal to the Circuit Court of the county shall be
the proper remedy.

SEC. 31. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
in case of condemnation of any land or parcel of
ground, shall in all cases be governed by the laws,
rules and regulations now made and used by the
county commissioners in cases of condemnation of
land, opening and making roads or closing them.
