directed to issue his warrant to the treasurer for five hundred dollars in favor of Frank A. Bond, for counsel fees incurred by him in defending a suit of mandamus, to enable him to maintain possession of the office of Adjutant General and its archives, instituted by his predecessor on the ground that he held by a life tenure.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 228.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay L. F. Colton and Company for paper furnished, and for printing and binding and distributing the report of the Board of State School Commissioners, for the year eighteen hundred and seventy-four, as per order of the Governor, in compliance with acts of eighteen hundred and seventy-two, chapter three hundred and seventy-seven, sub-chapter twelve, section eleven.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Comptroller of the treasury, be and he is hereby requested and directed to issue his warrant upon the treasurer, to pay L. F. Colton and Company the sum of two thousand, two hundred and seventy-nine dollars and fifty-five cents, in full payment of their bill for paper furnished, and for printing, binding and distributing three thousand copies of the report of the Board of State School Commissioners, for the year eighteen hundred and seventy-four, as per order of the Governor, in compliance with the provision of an act passed at the
