LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Shall be entitled.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the said company when duly organized as hereinbefore provided, shall be entitled to and may have, hold and exercise all the rights and privileges granted to the Gaslight Company of Baltimore by the second, third, fourth and fifth sections of the ordinances of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, entitled an ordinance to provide more effectually for lighting the streets, squares, lanes and alleys of the City of Baltimore, approved June seventeenth, eighteen hundred and sixteen, and the act of the General Assembly of December session eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter two hundred and fifty-one so far as the same are not inconsistent with the provisions of this act, and

Liable.

the said company hereby incorporated, shall be liable to all the duties, restrictions and penalties provided for in said sections of said ordinance and in said act of Assembly.

Personal estate.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the stock of this corporation shall be deemed personal estate, and shall with all the effects of the company be liable for its debts, but the stockholders individually shall not be liable therefore, and the service of any judicial process on the president or any four of the directors shall be sufficient service on the company.

Be construed.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall be construed as to authorize the said company to issue any note, token, scrip or other evidence of debt to be used as currency, and the General Assembly hereby reserves the right to alter, amend or repeal this act as the public good may require.

Deemed void.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That unless the twenty-five thousand shares of stock herein authorized shall have been subscribed and one half the par value thereof paid in cash before the year eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, this act shall be deemed void and of no effect and the General Assembly of Maryland, hereby reserves to itself the right to alter, repeal or amend the same at its pleasure.
