CHAPTER 114.

AN ACT to authorize the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Kent county to have several of the land record books of said county rebound, and to continue the general index of judgments and decrees on the dockets of said court from the year eighteen hundred and sixty-four.

WHEREAS, several of the land record books in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Kent county have, in consequence of long continued use and imperfect binding, become so dilapidated and worn that great inconvenience and injury is likely to result therefrom, therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the clerk of the said court be, and he is hereby authorized to have as many of said record books as need it well rebound in a strong and sub-

stantial manner, provided, that one of the Judges of the Circuit Court for Kent county shall deem the same necessary.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said clerk be and he is hereby Authorized and directed to continue the index of all judgments and decrees on the dockets of said court, from the year eighteen hundred and sixty-four, in the names of all the parties to such judgments or decrees.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the County Commissioners of Kent, county be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to levy upon the assessable property of said county a sura sufficient to pay the expenses incurred or to be incurred under this act, at such rates as the General Laws of the State authorize, provided however, that before they levy for same that the account for such work shall be approved by the Judges of the Circuit Court for Kent county as other bills of said clerk are now required to be certified.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the date of its passage.
