CHAPTER 182.
AN ACT to authorize the Comptroller to refund to
Edgar Plummer, Hiram G. Dudley, David Riley,
H. D. M. Howard, L. C. Graves, Charles R.
Hamilton, William Hoffman and J. H. Marshall
the sum of forty dollars each erroneously paid by
them as a tax on their commissions.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Edgar Plummer, Weigher General of
Grain, Hiram G. Dudly, David Riley, H. D. M.
Howard, L. C. Graves and Charles R. Hamilton,
Deputy Weighers of Grain, and William Hoffman
and J. H. Marshall, Weighers of Hay and Straw,
each appointed by the Governor and confirmed by
the Senate to their respective offices during the ses-
sion of eighteen hundred and seventy-four to go into
their respective offices from the first day of May
eighteen hundred and seventy-four, did, when they
were qualified upon their commissions before the
Clerk of the Superior Court pay to said clerk as a
tax on said commissions for the use of the State the
sum of fifty dollars each, as required of them by said
clerk, when in fact, by the act of eighteen hundred
and seventy -four they were only chargeable with
the sum often dollars each, as a tax on each of said
commissions; and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, the said clerk has paid into the State
Treasury the said sums of fifty dollars each as afore-
said, as appears by the certificate of the Comptroller
of the Treasury, whereby the said parties have been
improperly required to pay, each the sum of forty
dollars more than is required by law; therefore,

Issue warrant
In favor of

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller of the Treasury is
. hereby requested and directed to draw his warrant
on the treasurer for the sum of forty dollars each to
be paid to Edgar Plummer, Hiram G. Dudley, David
Riley, H. D. M. Howard, L. C. Graves, Charles R.
Hamilton, William Hoffman and J. H. Marshall.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
