Put in suit.

shall cause the bond of such defaulting collector to
be immediately put in suit for the recovery of the
money so collected and not paid over, and such ac-
counts for taxes as shall be delivered to said treasurer
as aforesaid, and shall remain unpaid on the first
day of April eighteen hundred and seventy-seven
shall by the said treasurer or receiver be placed in
the hands of the sheriff, to be collected as is provided
for other taxes in this act.

SEC. 22. And be it enacted, That the bonds of said
collectors shall remain in full force and effect until
the directions contained in the preceding section
shall have been fully complied with.

SEC. 23. And be it enacted, That in case the treas-
urer of Baltimore county, elected on the second of
November, eighteen hundred and seventy-five, shall
fail to qualify under this act, within thirty days after
its passage, the county commissioners or a majority

taxes, who shall hold office until the next general
election and three weeks thereafter; the receiver so
appointed shall qualify in the same manner as the
treasurer is required by this act, and it shall be his
duty to collect all taxes due the county in the man-
ner hereinbefore prescribed, paying the amount so
collected each week to the treasurer who shall then
proceed in the manner prescribed; the person so ap-

pointed as receiver of taxes shall be entitled to com-
pensation at the rate of fifteen hundred dollars per
annum, and shall be authorized to appoint the same
clerical force as the treasurer would have been enti-
tled to under this act.

SEC. 24. And be it further enacted. That this act
shall take effect from the date of its passage, and all
acts or part of acts, inconsistent therewith, are here-
by repealed, and that the repeal of the acts herein-
