Shall receive
tickets.

judges of election in the districts hereinbefore named
in the preceding section shall receive tickets written
or printed from the legal voters in said districts, on
which shall be written or printed "For License, " or
" Against License, " and shall deposit them in. a sep-
erate box provided for the purpose, and the said
tickets shall be counted and returned as other ballots
are counted and returned, and the result shall be
certified by said judges as other elections are certified
to the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Somerset county,

whose duty it shall be to proclaim the result by pub-
lication in one or more newspapers in the county
within ten days after the returns shall be received by
him; and the same notice shall be given by the sheriff
of these elections as is required in other elections, and
said elections shall in all respects be subject to and
be governed by the election laws of this State, so far
as they are applicable thereto.

SUB-SECTION 8. If, at said election provided for in
the preceding sections, a majority of the votes in either
of said election districts shall be against license then
the provisions of this act shall continue in force in
said district so voting and not otherwise, and no li-
cense shall issue for the sale of malt, spirituous,
vinous or intoxicating liquors within such district,
except as maybe allowable under sub-section six;
but if the result of such election shall be in favor of
license, then license shall be issued in the district so
deciding, as now allowed by law, and all licenses so
granted for sale of liquors in the said districts named
in sub-section six, which shall declare against license,

Null and void.

shall become null and void after the first day of
January eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, and
the Comptroller shall refund to the holder thereof a
due. proportion of money paid for the same, for the
residue of time covered by such license.

SUB-SECTION 9. No sale of said prohibited liquors
shall be deemed a sale for medicinal purposes under
any sub-section of this article unless the buyer pre-
sents a written prescription of some respectable phy-
sician, except in the case of extreme illness when
delay is impracticable and dangerous, and unless the
seller be a physician, in which case he shall take the,
