CHAPTER 15.
AN ACT to release to Mortimer C. Griffith, Phile-
mon C. Griffith, Mary R. Dorsey, and Emeline
C. Orme, children of Philemon Griffith; deceased,
all the rights and interest of the State of Maryland
in and to a bequest of two thousand dollars, made
by the will of said deceased, to his wife Ann
Griffith, who died before her said husband with-
out heirs.

WHEREAS, Philemon Griffith, late of the city of
Baltimore, deceased, by his last will and testament,
admitted to probate in the Orphans' Court of said
city, bequeathed unto his wife Ann Griffith, the
sum of two thousand dollars; and

WHEREAS, The said Ann Griffith died intestate
and without leaving any relations whatever, before
the death of her said husband, wherefore ^under the
laws of this State, said bequest to her belongs to the
State.

AND WHEREAS it appears that the parties herein-
after named, are the children of said Philemon
Griffith and are therefore equitably entitled to said
bequest, therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the right and interest of the State
of Maryland in and to the sum of two thousand dol-
lars, which by the last will and testament of Phile-
mon Griffith, late of the city of Baltimore, deceased,
was bequeathed to his wife Ann Griffith, be and
the same is hereby granted and released to the
children of the said Philemon Griffith, viz: Phile-
mon C. Griffith, Mortimer C. Griffith, Mary R.
Dorsey, and Emeline C. Orme, to whom the execu-
tors of the will of said deceased, are hereby author-
ized to pay said sum. *

SEC. 2. And be, it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage, and that all acts
or parts of acts, inconsistent with the provisions of
this act, so far as they affect the bequest above men-
tioned, be and the same are hereby repealed.
