Proviso.
|
against any one or more citizens of said counties for
selling spirituous liquors, in violation of the Local
Option Law passed January session, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-four, chapter four hundred and fifty-
three, for Dorchester and Caroline counties; provided
always that the party or parties thus indicted, shall
have obtained license to sell spirituous liquors from
the clerks of said courts, respectively, previous to the
adoption, by the people, of the said Local Option
Law, and ceased to sell as soon as the constitution-
ality of said law was affirmed by the Court of Appeals
of this State, and sold no spirituous liquors there-
after.

Be construed,
|
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in
the foregoing section of this act shall be so construed
as in any manner to mitigate the offence, or to re-
lieve from the provisions of the Local Option Law
for said counties, any one or more persons indicted
in the said Circuit Courts of Dorchester and Caroline
counties, or who may hereafter be indicted for vio-
lating the Local Option Law, and who continued the
sale of spirituous liquors after the decision of the
Court of Appeals in favor of the constitutionality of
said law, or who may have commenced to sell spir-
ituous liquors since the aforesaid decision of the said
Court of Appeals.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
