SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said special elec-
tion shall be held at the usual places of voting in said
county, after three weeks notice being given by the
sheriff in the several newspapers of the county, of the
time and purpose thereof, by three judges appointed
by the county commissioners for each election district
in said county, who shall be sworn and shall conduct
said election according to the provisions of the gen-
eral election law of the State, so far. as the same is
applicable thereto; at which said election the. ballots

to be casts shall have printed or written on them " For
the sale of spirituous or fermented liquors" or
"Against the sale of spirituous or fermented liquors, "
and that the ballots so cast shall be carefully counted
by the judges of said special election, who shall
within three days thereafter make a written return
under their hands and seals of the number of ballots
so cast, to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for said
county who shall cause the same to be recorded, and
statements of the same certified under his hand and

of the newspapers of said county immediately there-
after; and the expense of said election, including the
sheriffs notices, and the publication of the certified
statements of the result made by the clerk, shall be
levied by the commissioners of said county and paid
by the collector thereof.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That whenever it shall
appear by the returns of the judges of said special
election, that a majority of the whole number of votes
taken at said special election, shall have been cast
against the granting of licenses for the sale of spirit-
uous or fermented liquors, then it shall not be lawful
from and after the first day of May in the year eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-six, for any person or per-
sons, firm or company, to sell directly or indirectly
at any place, or to give away at his, her or their place
of business any spirituous or fermented liquors,
within the limits of Wicomico county, or for any
license to be issued or granted for the sale of the
same.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That if any person or per-
sons, firm or company, shall sell directly or indirectly
