11 H. 6, CAP. 8, WEIGHTS AND MEASURES.
Crown. In 1751 an Act was passed, which provided that suits, &c. should.
not be discontinued by the death of the Proprietor, but this Act ceased to
have any operation after the adoption of the State Government.
CAP. VIII.
A Confirmation of all Statutes made touching Weights and Measures.
This chapter after confirming the Statute of 1 H. 5, c. 10, and 8 H. 6, c.
5, touching Weights and Measures, proceeds;
(10) Joining to the said Sta-
tute made the said eighth Year,
247* that in every City,
Borough, and Town of the
Realm, there shall be a com-
mon Bushel sealed, and accord-
ing to the Standard of the Ex-
chequer, in the same Manner
and Form, and upon the same
Pain, as in the same Statute is
specified, and a common Bal-
ance to be in every such City,
Borough, and Town. (11) And
that the Mayor of the said City
of London, and all other May-
ors of all other Cities and Bor-
oughs of England where there
is a Mayor, and all Bailiffs of
Cities and Boroughs where
there is no Mayor, and all Jus-
tices of Peace in every County
of England for the time being,
shall have full Power to put all
the Statutes and Ordinances
aforesaid in due Execution,
and to hear and determine all
the Defaults, Misprisions, Of-
fences, and Trespasses against
the Form and Effect of the said
