                                        CHAP. XXII.
An Act to enlarge the powers of the Trustees of the Poor of Montgomery
                            County.  Lib. TH. No. 2, fol. 21.

    WHEREAS John Herring, of Montgomery county, by his petition
to this general assembly hath set forth, that he is very poor,
that he has an aged wife and a helpless family to support, and that
from a total failure of his eyesight he is incapable of obtaining a
livelihood either for them or himself, and praying to be supported
as an out-pensioner; and the prayer of the petitioner appearing
reasonable, therefore,
Preamble.
    2.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
it shall and may be lawful for the trustees of the poor of Montgomery
county, (if they shall be of opinion that the peculiar circumstances
of the said John Herring are such as to render a situation
in the poor-house particularly unsuitable for him,) to support him
as an out-pensioner, in addition to the number now allowed by the
act (a), entitled, An act to enlarge the powers of the trustees of the
poor in the several counties therein designated, and to allow to the
said John Herring a sum for his support, not exceeding thirty dollars
annually, to be paid at such time as the said trustees shall direct,
the amount of said sum to be levied and collected in the same
manner as other expenses of the poor of said county are levied and
collected, provided that the application of the said John Herring
to be supported as an out-pensioner shall be recommended by the
levy court of Montgomery county.

                                          CHAP. XXIII.
An Act for the support of Esther Jerman, of Worcester County.  Lib.
                                        TH. No. 2, fol. 21.

    WHEREAS Esther Jerman, of Worcester county, by her petition
to this general assembly hath set forth, that she is very old and infirm,
and not able to maintain herself, and prays that an act may pass
to provide for her maintenance; and the facts stated in said
petition appearing true, therefore,
Preamble.
    2.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Worcester county shall, and they
are hereby empowered, at their next levy court, and at their levy
court annually, during the life of said Esther Jerman, to levy on
the assessable property of said county, a sum of money, not less
than twenty nor exceeding thirty dollars, for the support of said
Esther Jerman, and the same, when collected, shall be paid by
the collector of said county, to said Esther Jerman, or order, for
the purpose aforesaid.
