An Act for the benefit of Catharine Johnson, of Charles County.  Lib.
                                TH. No. 1, fol. 399.

Passed Jan. 20, 1808.
WHEREAS Catharine Johnson, of Charles county, by her petition
to this general assembly hath set forth, that she is a widow
with four children, and without the means of support, except from
her personal labour, which is arduous and hard, and withal inadequate
to the demands of her family, and in addition to her poverty
it hath pleased God to deprive one of her daughters of the use of
her lower extremities from the hips downwards, by which misfortune
this child is debarred from obtaining a livelihood, and must
either perish by famine or repair to the poor's house of the said
county, where her afflictions and infirmities would lose the attentions
of a parent, which her unhappy and helpless situation so
much requires; and the prayer of the petitioner, that the levy court
of the county in which she resides may levy a small sum of money
to assist her labours in the support of her numerous family, appearing
reasonable, and the facts stated true, therefore,
