as if the error in the original law and its supplements, to which
this is a further supplement, had not occurred, and at their next
annual meeting to levy on the assessable property of Harford county
the amount of money, agreeably to the return of the jury under
the act of the last session, to which this is a supplement, and when
the same shall be levied as aforesaid it shall be collected and paid
over to the said Thomas Poteet and Thomas Poteet, junior, or their
order, as other county charges are collected and paid. |

CHAP. LVIII.
An Act to extend further the powers of the Levy Court of Allegany
County, relative to Roads in said County, and for other
purposes.

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the levy court of Allegany county shall have power, and they are
hereby directed, annually, at their August meeting, to fix and
determine upon the number of days (a) the respective supervisors
by them appointed shall be authorised to summon or warn all the
able bodied male persons in said county, above the age of sixteen (a),
to assist in repairing the public roads therein; and that it shall and
may be lawful for every person who shall be summoned or warned
to work as aforesaid, and for every master or mistress of servants,
in lieu of working on the public roads as aforesaid, to pay to the
supervisor of their district the sums rated or fixed by the levy court
to be allowed to labourers or hands hired to work on the road, for
each and every day any person shall be warned or summoned to
work as aforesaid.

male persons under 18, and above 60 years of age, are not obliged to assist
in repairing

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That when any person
warned or
summoned to attend and work on the roads as aforesaid, shall neglect
so to attend by eight o'clock in the morning, or refuse to pay
as before directed, shall forfeit and be fined seventy-five cents, to
be laid out on the roads, and may be recovered before a justice of
the peace, unless by him excused on account of sickness or some
such sufficient excuse. |

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That any person appointed
by the levy
court as supervisor, shall be bound to serve as such for one year,
under the penalty of twenty dollars in case of refusal, to be recovered
before a justice of the peace and expended on the roads.

4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the levy court
of Allegany county
be and they are hereby authorised to levy on the assessable property
in said county, such sum or sums of money as in their judgment
and opinion may be deemed necessary and sufficient to complete
the bridge now building over Will's Creek, in the town of
Cumberland. |

5. AND BE IT ENACTED, That any provisions
contained in any
former law or laws on this subject, inconsistent with the present,
shall be and the same are hereby made void. |
