An Act to alter the time of holding the County Courts of Queen-Anne's

County courts,
when to be held. |
BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
from and after the passage of this act, the county courts of Queen-Anne's
county shall be held on the first Monday of May, and on
the third Monday of October, in every year thereafter, any law to
the contrary notwithstanding; and that all causes, pleas, process
and proceedings, civil and criminal, now depending in the said
county courts, or hereafter to be issued therefrom, shall be continued
and returnable to the said days respectively.

CHAP. XV.
A Supplement to an act, * entitled, An act relating to the public
Roads
in the several Counties therein mentioned. Lib.

Preamble. |
WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly,
that the
number of overseers of the road limited for Dorchester county by
the act to which this is a supplement, from the extent of some of the
hundreds in said county, and the low and muddy nature of the
roads leading through the same, are found insufficient for the purposes
contemplated in said act; therefore, |

appointed to keep
roads in repair. |
2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Dorchester county, or a majority
of them, be and they are hereby authorised and empowered to appoint,
at their annual meetings, as many overseers of the roads in
the several hundred, as they shall deem necessary for keeping the
said roads in due repair.
3. This section repealed by 1808,
ch. 12, it relating to Dorchester county only. |

CHAP. XVI.
An Act authorising a Lottery to raise a sum of money for the purpose
of building a Bridge across the River Monocacy, in Frederick
County.

Preamble. |
WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly,
by the petition
of sundry inhabitants of Frederick county, that they have
experienced great and manifold delays and inconveniencies in conveying
to the city of Baltimore the produce of their farms, by reason
of their being unable to cross, at certain seasons, the river Monocacy,
between Creager's-town and Woodsborough, on the main
road leading from Washington county, through these towns and Liberty-town,
to Baltimore, and praying that a law may pass authorising
a lottery to raise a sum of money for the purpose of building
a bridge across said river; therefore, |

proposed—bond
to be given. |
2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
it shall and may be lawful for Benjamin Blackford, Michael Myers,
Frederick C. Hass, Bernard Gilbert, Abraham Crapster,
Conrad Shafer, Elie Philips and Frederick Eichelberger, or a majority
of them, to propose a scheme of a lottery, for raising a sum
of money, not exceeding five thousand dollars, and sell and dispose
of the tickets in said lottery, and they are hereby authorised to draw
said lottery; provided, that the said Benjamin Blackford, Michael |
