give bond to the mayor and city council of the city of Baltimore,
with good and sufficient security, for the faithful performance of
their trust, which bond shall be lodged in the mayor's office, in
such sum as to the mayor and city council may be adequate for that
purpose. |
And dispose of
tickets. |
4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the aforesaid commissioners,
or
any of them, or any person authorised by them, shall have full
power and authority to sell and dispose of tickets in the said lottery,
either in the city of Baltimore or any other part of this state,
without paying any tax to the corporation of the city of Baltimore
therefor, any law to the contrary notwithstanding. |

Preamble. |
WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly,
that the
straightening the road from Towson's tavern on the York turnpike
in Baltimore county, in the direction to Major David Wiley's on
the Pennsylvania line, would be productive of much convenience
and benefit; therefore, |
Commissioners
appointed to lay
down a correct
plot of road. |
2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That
William Johnson, Joshua Stevenson and William Hutchings, of
Baltimore county, and Jesse Jarrett and Andrew Turner, of Harford
county, be appointed commissioners, and they, or a majority
of them, authorised and required to view and lay down a correct
plot of the aforesaid road, in the nearest and best direction, and on
the best ground, but not to pass through the yard, orchard or garden,
of any person or persons without their consent. |
Plot, &c. to be
returned to next
general assembly. |
3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the aforesaid commissioners,
or
a majority of them, shall return the aforesaid plot, with the probable
expense of opening and straightening the aforesaid road, to
the next general assembly. |
Commissioners'
allowance. |
4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners
appointed by
this act shall each have an allowance of two dollars for every day
they shall severally attend in discharge of the duties required by
this act, and the levy court of Baltimore and Harford counties, at
the meeting of their next levy court are hereby directed to levy
such sum as shall appear due to the commissioners aforesaid,
which sum shall be collected and paid over as other county charges
are collected and paid. |
