ROBERT BOWIE, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.
was passed at November session, seventeen hundred and ninety-nine,*
appointing commissioners to lay out and open a road
leading from the gate of Richard Tilghman, the fourth, near the
manor road, across the country, so as to intersect the main road
leading from I. B. to Sudler's cross roads, near Joseph Conekins,
but upon examination of the ground it was found that a road could
not be effected in the direction intended by the above law, without
great damage and expense; it is further stated in the said petition,
that a road is now laid out and opened, by consent of parties, in
the best direction the nature of the ground would admit, nearly in
the direction, and near the same place, which was intended the
road mentioned in the said law should run; the petitioners pray
that the said road, now laid out and opened as aforesaid, be by
law made a public road; therefore, |

when so made and completed as aforesaid, shall be certified under
the hands and seals of the said commissioners, and returned to the
clerk of Queen-Anne's county court, to be recorded, and shall for
