said bonds, so taken as aforesaid, to the several and respective
parties to whom the same are payable as aforesaid, within a reasonable
time thereafter.

CHAP. 23.

    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the trustees of the Washington
academy are hereby authorised, empowered and required, to collect
and receive the part of the said purchase money payable to them as
aforesaid, as soon as the same shall become due, according to the
said instalments, and apply the same towards finishing and completing
Washington academy, or to erect such other buildings for
the benefit of the said academy as may be deemed necessary by the
said trustees, or a majority of them, and to or for no other purposes 
whatever.

    4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That John C. Handy, James B. Robins,
Edward Henry, Joshua Duer, John Cottingham, John Dashiell and 
Eben Christopher, or a majority of them, by the name of The Visitors
of Worcester County School, having first taken the usual
oaths to government, and an oath to discharge their duty as visitors
of the said school, shall be and they are hereby, to all intents
and purposes, constituted and appointed a body politic, to sue and
be sued, plead and be impleaded, in any court of law or equity within
this state; and the said visitors, and their successors, in their
corporate capacity aforesaid, are hereby authorised and empowered
to collect and receive the part of the said purchase money payable
to them as aforesaid, as soon as the same shall become due, according
to the said instalments, and to apply the same to the purchase
of a quantity of land, not exceeding one hundred acres, in some
healthy situation in the most convenient part of Worcester county,
and thereon to erect a school-house, and such other buildings
as may be deemed necessary by the said visitors, or a majority of'
them, and they are also, in their corporate capacity aforesaid, authorised
to hold and occupy, for the use and benefit of the said school,
any property, real or personal, not exceeding the value of ten
thousand dollars.

    5.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said visitors of Worcester
county school, or a majority of them, shall have full power and authority
to make and ordain such by-laws and ordinances, for the
government and regulation of the said school, as by them shall be
deemed requisite, which rules and regulations shall be observed by
the masters, tutors and scholars, of the said school.

    6.  AND, in order to perpetuate the succession of the said visitors,
BE IT ENACTED, That as often as any one or more of the said visitors
of Worcester county school shall resign, die, or remove out 
of the county, the remaining visitors, or a majority of them, at
their next meeting, before they proceed to other business, shall elect
a suitable person residing in the county to fill such vacancy, who
shall, before he proceeds to act as visitor of the said school, qualify
in manner aforesaid.

    7.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That all acts of assembly heretofore
made, inconsistent with, or repugnant to, the provisions of this act,
be and the same are hereby repealed, abrogated and made void.
