shall be the duty of the said constable so seizing and impounding,
immediately to set up notice thereof in the most public places in
said town for at least three days, and to insert the marks and description
of such swine in said notices, and if the same are not reclaimed
within three days after seizure and impounding, and the
expenses of impounding and keeping, to be allowed by a justice of
the peace, be paid, together with the sum of seventy-five cents for
every hog, that the same shall be publicly sold by the said constable,
giving three days notice in writing, set up as aforesaid, of the
time and place of such sale, and the proceeds of such sale shall be
first applied to the expense of impounding and keeping said swine,
and the surplus, the one half thereof shall be paid to the said constable,
and the other half to the supervisor of the district, to be by
him applied to the mending and repairing the streets in said town. |

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the act passed
at November session,
eighteen hundred and two, (a) entitled, An act to prevent hogs
going at large in the town of Emmitsburgh, in Frederick county,
be and the same is hereby repealed.

and levy a sum of money for the purpose therein
mentioned.

WHEREAS Elizabeth Greer, of Prince-George's county,
by her
petition to this general assembly has set forth, that she has a
daughter, Anne Greer, now about twenty-one years of age, a lunatic,
and subject to fits, by the frequency of which, and falling into
the fire, she has lost both of her hands, and is thereby rendered
incapable of feeding herself in her most lucid intervals, and prays
that a law may pass for the support of her said daughter out of the
poor's-house; and the prayer of the said petitioner appearing reasonable,
therefore, |

2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the levy court of Prince-George's county shall be and are hereby
directed and empowered, at their levy court annually, so long as
they may see cause, to assess and levy on said county a sum of
money, not exceeding forty dollars, for the support and maintenance
of the said Anne Greer, daughter of the aforesaid Elizabeth
Greer, and that the same be collected and paid annually to the
aforesaid Elizabeth Greer, or such other person as the levy court
may direct, by the collector or collectors of Prince-George's county,
agreeably to the order of the levy court aforesaid. |
