                                    APPENDIX.

act, till the court of appeals shall determine thereon, on
the appeal now depending before them for that purpose; and the
attorney-general of this state is hereby directed to apply to the said
court at the ensuing term for a decision of the said question.


Agent to compound
with trustees
of bank stock,
&c.
                                        No. 14.
    RESOLVED, That the agent of this state for the recovery of the
bank stock may, with the approbation of his excellency William
Smallwood, Charles Carroll, of Carrollton, and Thomas Johnson,
Esquires, or any two of them, compound, settle and agree, with
the trustees of the said stock, or any other person or persons concerning
the same, on such terms and conditions as they may think
for the advantage of the state, on consideration of the situation of
the said stock, and the present circumstances of this state, and the
benefit that may be derived from a speedy and reasonable compromise;
and that the money arising from the stock that will remain
to this government, may be laid out in such manner as the said
gentlemen, or any two of them, shall think most beneficial to this
state.

Actions and executions,
&c. directed
to be suspended,
&c.

    WHEREAS an appeal is now depending in the court of appeals on
the question, whether the purchasers of confiscated property since
the consolidating act can pay their annual interest in specie certificates
made receivable for the principal due for the said purchases:
And whereas a resolution has passed the legislature to stop all actions
and executions against the debtors of said property purchased
since the consolidating act, till the court of appeals shall determine
thereon:  And whereas from the distant situation of many
debtors from the seat of government, who are interested in said
question, may not hear of the determination of said question, and
may be subject to immediate execution before they have an opportunity
of paying said interest; RESOLVED, That the treasurer of
the western shore be, and he is hereby authorised and directed,
to suspend and stop all actions and executions against said debtors,
till six weeks after the court of appeals shall determine thereon on
the appeal now depending before them for that purpose, and that
this resolution be published six weeks in the Maryland Gazette, and
Baltimore Advertiser; provided always, that the said appeal shall
not, on any pretence, be continued longer than to the end of two
courts after the meeting of said court in the month of October last
past.

Certain monies to
be appropriated as
the general assembly
shall direct.
                                        No. 2.
    RESOLVED, That so much of the monies arising from assessment
and duties appropriated to congress, being equal to the sum of continental
state money issued on the orders aforesaid, and the interest
thereof, be appropriated to such uses as the general assembly shall
hereafter direct.

instructed to
apply for information,
&c.
                                        No. 3.
    RESOLVED, That the delegates from this state to congress be directed
and instructed to apply to congress for information by what
authority the aforesaid sum of 54642 47/90ths continental state dollars
